BetStop Breaches Expose Folly of Self Regulation in Gambling Industry The recent penalty handed down to Dabble, a social media linked betting platform, highlights the inadequacies of self regulation in the gambling industry.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority's (ACMA) investigation found that Dabble had kept the accounts of over 150 problem gamblers open, sent them marketing material more than 800 times, and even breached BetStop laws by failing to close wagering accounts after users registered.
The ACMA's findings are particularly egregious given the context.
